Michelle Obama sat down on the Today Show to candidly discuss her life, her daughters’ life, finding time for dinner and pressures of being a style icon.
Matt Lauer asked her 'her rose of the day and her thorn of the day'. A question the Obama's ask each other every night at dinner. She said her rose thus far in her day was sitting down with Matt (haha) and her thorn, although a small thorn, was helping one of her daughters with an issue. She did not specify on the issue.
It seems some would like to speculate the issue was weight related. There has been a cyberspace uproar over comments the first lady made about putting her girls on a diet.
Just two weeks after announcing the unnerving news that childhood obesity has tripled over the last 30 years, and unveiling her own initiative to combat it, Michelle Obama has offended critics by discussing her own “wake-up” moment—when the family pediatrician told her that daughters Sasha and Malia were becoming overweight.
What? What is considered obese? These adorable and seemingly fit girls are in the public eye. They are often photographed and appear to be their ideal weights. This exact reasoning is why so many critics are up in arms.
"He will have to explain to the American people why his vision for bigger government, more spending, and higher taxes will work over the next four years when it hasn't worked in the past three and a half years.” – Sen. Rob Portman on President Obama
