Moore: Republicans Good at Being Bullies and Being Greedy

Filmmaker Michael Moore has been making the rounds this week to promote the DVD release of his 2009 documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story.” And those rounds include his sawed-off shot-gun approach to criticizing Washington.

Moore blames Democrats for holding up the health care vote, saying members of the caucus “never did that well in math.” “They believe they needed 60 votes,” Moore said, in an interview with POLITICO. “They never got off that. They believed 60 was a simple majority.”

They’re also failing to get much done in general, according to Moore, because they aren’t following the one rule he learned from his high school debate team: never let the opponent set the terms.

“They have allowed the Republicans to define the issues,” Moore said. “When that happens, you’re always playing catch-up.”

Despite his displeasure with the current legislation Congress is working to pass, Moore said if he were in Congress he would vote for it, but he would be honest about it. “I wouldn’t use the word ‘reform,’” he said. “It is not universal health care.”

Naturally, he’s got some fire for the GOP: “Republicans are very good at what they do, being bullies and being greedy. They are so greedy, even when the country has told them we don’t want them running anything.”
