Nicolas Sarkozy has ruled out sending any more French soldiers to Afghanistan, in an apparent snub to Gordon Brown.
The French president's announcement comes as the Prime Minister prepares to host tomorrow's international conference in London on the war-torn nation's future.
Mr Brown hopes to hammer out steps to bring stability to Afghanistan, including persuading Nato countries to pledge more troops to defeat the Taliban.
