The Rev. Jesse Jackson told a group of 4th, 5th and 6th graders today at Highland Community School that Wisconsin's fight over labor and collective bargaining rights for public workers is an extension of the fight for equal voting rights in the 1960s.
"Collective bargaining means teachers can vote en masse and demand better working rights," Jackson told the students, seated around him in a circle at Highland School's satellite campus at the Sarah Scott middle school building, 1017 N. 12th St.
