The Return of Megyn Kelly

Monday, Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly returns from maternity leave to resume anchoring the daytime news show America Live (daily, 1-3 p.m. ET). We caught up with the sleep-deprived new mom of two (daughter Yardley, 4 months, and son Yates, almost 2) while she was still camped out with the kids in the Hamptons, New York. On this 40-year-old working mother’s mind:

Motherhood reality check. “Nobody really tells you that maternity leave, especially the first couple of weeks, may not be all joy and bliss,” says Kelly, who adds that her son was easier than her new daughter. “It may be really damn hard.”

The good working mother. “I don’t know if I’d be a very good mother if I was there [at home] full time. I’d worry that I’d get stale because I’d be missing my old life.”
