Pres. Obama: 'There's a Reptilian Side of Our Brain'

President Obama took time out from dealing with Congress, the economy and the war to appear on morning talk show The View.

 

Some people think the appearance was all about the president connecting with women in america while trying to come across as a regular guy and making history.

 

It's the first time a sitting president has ever appeared on a daytime talk show. President Obama's visit to The View started off with some laughs.

 

"I was trying to find a show that Michelle actually watched," joked President Obama.

 

In the hour long interview. the conversation quickly went to hot button issues such as race, war, and the economy. The president was candid when it came to the discussion of race, saying people still must confront their "reptilian side" when dealing with people or different races.

 

He said, "There is still kind of a reptilian side of our brain, that part of our brain that, if somebody looks different or sounds different, that there's part of us that is cautious. And what we have to do is fight against that."

 

President Obama's interview was groundbreaking, but also had a purpose: to reach out to women.
