Scarlett Johansson Declines Marine Ball Invite

These days, inviting a celebrity to the Marine Corps Ball has practically become as de riguer as combat boots and fatigues.

First, Mila Kunis accepted one Marine's invite to the ball. Next, Justin Timberlake said yes to another, and then a slew of other stars (Betty White among them!) have been asked to go, as well.

The latest invitee, Scarlett Johansson, had to decline a video invitation from Sgt. Dustin L. Williams for the Nov. 10 ball, but she's sending a bubbly replacement to accompany him to the fete.

"Sgt. Williams, unfortunately due to prior commitments I will not be able to attend the Ball with you this year but I am sending you a case of Moët and Chandon with gratitude," the actress, 26, wrote in a statement to Zap2it.
