White House political strategists were smiling when the Chrysler "Halftime in America" commercial aired during last night’s Super Bowl half time. WH Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer tweeted: “Saving the America Auto Industry: Something Eminem and Clint Eastwood can agree on” (referring to last year’s pro-Detroit Eminem ad). Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod tweeted his thoughts last night: "Powerful spot. Did Clint shoot that, or just narrate it?"
The ad featured Clinton Eastwood mimicking President Obama’s reelection campaign theme – the actor saying it seems like Americans have “lost their heart” and “feel division, discord and blame” …then dismissing the last three years Eastwood says “all that matters is what’s ahead….how we act as one…come together” and “win.” The ad echoed themes the White House has been hammering recently, “winning the future,” “we can’t wait,” “some things we can only do together.”

Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said the campaign had no involvement with the ad.
